Tony Plastini was born in June 1955, in the small town of Tuckahoe, New York. He is from a large, Italian family, with five brothers and sisters, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony’s father, John Plastini, was a carpenter and contractor who taught his children the value of hard work and perseverance.
Tony started in the air conditioning business at the age of 15, working his summers for Tuckahoe Air Conditioning. He moved to South Florida in 1975 at the age of 19 and continued in the air conditioning field. He attended Florida Atlantic Technical School and joined Local Union 725, where he graduated at the top of his class.
He started working for Ductmasters in Pompano Beach in 1976, and then moved on to Air Conditioning Associates in Ft. Lauderdale, where he met his future business partner and trusted friend, Tim Waterhouse. The two started Coastal Comfort in 1985, with the help of Tim’s father, Clarence Waterhouse.
Tim and Tony’s formula for hard work and always putting their customers first has expanded their humble beginnings to a company with over 50 employees and 35 trucks. By doing the right thing for their customers and employees, Coastal Comfort has attracted some of the best technicians in the industry.
Tony is also a very proud father. His son, Michael, graduated with honors from Florida State University and the University of Miami. Michael is currently interning in Philadelphia with a specialty in surgery.
